5 Reasons to Choose Jesus' Economy This Giving Tuesday

Today is #GivingTuesday, an international day of generosity. It's inspiring. If I had to choose just five reasons why I think you should give with Jesus' Economy today, here's what I would say.

5 Reasons Jesus' Economy Is a New, Better Solution

1. 100% to the Developing World

100% of your giving goes to the developing world. We even cover credit cards fees! Every single dollar you donate goes exactly where you designate. For example, if you give $100 to providing clean water, your full $100 goes to the developing world and will be used only for drilling water. We raise our U.S. costs separately from developing world projects by people specifically giving to our Operations Fund.

We also make it so that you can choose your passion and have 100% of your giving go where you designate. We often phrase this as 100% to the cause of your choosing!

2. Regular Reporting, Accountability, and Financial Transparency

We connect you to the real stories of what your donations are doing in the field by regularly posting field reports. In addition, we maintain accountability by being legally transparent, providing all relevant legal documents right on our website.

We're also financially transparent and accountable. We post financial updates online, including every grant receipt. GuideStar gave us a Gold rating for transparency.

3. Holistic Renewal of Communities and Empowering Local Leaders

We empower indigenous leaders to holistically renew their communities. We believe that the spiritual and physical health of a community are interwoven. That's why we create jobs, plant churches, and meet basic needs at the same time.

We also believe that the people most likely to be able to solve extreme poverty are those closest to it. This means that partnership is everything for us. We always design renewal projects with local leaders and empower them to execute those projects. This has the added advantage of reducing costs since we don't have to pay for westerners to live on location; instead, we do the majority of our work through grants.

4. Innovating to Solve Global Poverty

We're innovating to solve global poverty by using a new model for solving poverty (as depicted in the infographic above) and leveraging technology (see below). Our model has been expounded upon in detail in our new book, Jesus' Economy, which is recognized by Christian leaders from around the world as providing a viable and biblically sound solution to global poverty.

As part of our technology efforts, we even plan to connect the job creation aspects of holistic renewal projects to our online Fair Trade Shop, bringing new money into a community while creating opportunities for you to shop online.

5. With Jesus' Economy, You Can Give and Shop to Help Others, in One Transaction

We're leveraging our interconnected world for the good of the global poor. We've developed technology to make it possible for you to Shop Fair Trade and give in the same place, in the same transaction. We make it so that only when you give, but also when you shop, you can help others. And that's just the beginning of the ways we're innovating.

Our Fair Trade Shopping model is also unique. You can shop to create jobs and then we turn around and invest every dollar in the mission of creating jobs and churches in the developing world via our Operations Fund.

Creating a New, Better Solution

We're bringing the gospel to unreached people groups, people who have never heard the name of Jesus before. We're creating fair trade jobs in impoverished communities around the world via our Fair Trade Shop. We're meeting basic needs, such as clean water and literacy training, in one of the most impoverished places in the world. And we're doing all this through connecting you to the stories of indigenous leaders and empowering them to alleviate suffering and renew their communities. It's a new, better solution.

Choose your passion and donate now. We will send every last dollar where you designate. Renew communities with us.
