The miraculous is happening in Bihar, India. Jesus’ Economy church planter Rahul has brought the gospel to thousands of people who have never heard it before. Through his ministry, people have believed in Jesus, been baptized, and have been given the opportunity to attend church services and Bible studies. Through Rahul, the Holy Spirit is working to heal the sick and cast out evil.

Darpita, an eighteen-year-old woman living in Bihar, recently experienced spiritual transformation because of Rahul’s ministry. In September 2018, while she was working out in the fields, something terrible happened to her. She was subsequently oppressed by an evil spirit. Darpita, once talkative and kind, turned into someone who couldn’t talk and started acting in a terrifying way, especially to the children in the village. Every time she was around, they were so afraid that they ran away from her.

Darpita’s parents tried everything they could think of to heal her. They were desperate to bring back the daughter they knew and loved. They took her to countless doctors and even tried a local religious “healer” to rid her of the evil spirits. Nothing worked. Her parents were heartbroken. Darpita was their only child and they didn’t want to lose her.

One of the men from their village told her father about Rahul and his ministry in another village. He advised them to seek out Rahul and ask for healing. Seven months of living in constant fear and worry came to a halt when they brought Darpita to Rahul in March 2019.

During a prayer time in a church service, Darpita’s parents brought her to Rahul and explained the whole situation. Upon hearing their story, Rahul led the church in praying for miraculous healing for Darpita. Jesus answered their prayers and the oppressive spirits left Darpita, right then and there. Miraculously, Darpita was able to talk again and be herself again. The entire church celebrated with the family.

This miraculous act convinced Darpita’s parents that they needed to start going to church and all three of them said they believed in Jesus. In April of 2019, they started regularly attending the very same church where their daughter was healed; since then, their lives have been full of peace. Darpita's story reminds us of what Jesus said:

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” (Luke 4:18–19).

In the villages where Rahul works, people are choosing to believe in Jesus. The captives are being set free. Rahul’s church planting ministry also reminds us of the power of prayer. Keep praying and believing with us for Rahul, his ministry, and the church planting efforts to Renew Bihar, India.

Because of your donations, there are now believers in Northeast India who might have otherwise gone their entire lives without even hearing the name of Jesus. Thank you for your support of church planting in Bihar, India.

The work of Jesus' Economy sponsored church planter, Veer, has resulted in miraculous, life-changing events. In one of the villages where he ministers, he has helped establish a literacy center where men, women, and children come to learn how to read and write. Our partners in Bihar, India describe this literacy center as one of the “outstanding ones.” Children who attend the literacy center are experiencing God’s love in this tangible way and some have begun praying for their village and those who are sick.

Take Mita, a seven-year-old girl, who attends the literacy center. Both of her parents work during the day but still didn’t earn enough to send her to school. Veer found out about this and let the parents know that the literacy center was free. Mita was able to start attending immediately. She was a fast learner and did very well in class. Since the Bible is used as a primary means for teaching people how to read, Mita even memorized Bible stories they had been taught.

One day her father came home from work very sick. As the evening progressed, he became sicker and was in so much pain that he was crying out. In the middle of the night, Mita heard her father in pain and remembered how she was taught at the literacy school that Jesus healed sick people. In addition, Veer had taught the children how to pray. So she started praying that God would heal her father. And that’s just what happened. Her father was miraculously healed by God; so much so that the next night they were able to go as a family to the literacy center to tell Veer about what happened.

Veer saw the miracle as an opportunity to share with the whole family about the good news of Jesus. That very moment, the whole family said they believed in Jesus. The family started coming to one of the house churches and are now ready and willing to be baptized. A whole family now knows Jesus! All because one child had faith.

This is just one of the many miracles that has happened in the villages where Veer ministers. Stories like Mita's are a reminder of why Jesus said, “Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it” (Luke 18:17).

None of this could have happened without you. If you have supported church planting through Jesus’ Economy, you have allowed God to use you to help Veer do this ministry in Bihar. Won’t you continue to join us in supporting church planting in Bihar, India?

Church planter, Rahul, brings a blessing in the form of a water well to a village in Bihar, India.

Only the Wealthy Get Clean Water

Hot summers proved to be a greater difficulty than most for this village because there was no water well available to the general public. The only water wells in the village were on private property belonging to the few wealthy people in the village. They wouldn’t let the poorer villagers come and use the wells without causing many problems.

So all the villagers who didn’t have private water wells had to walk hours for clean water, taking up most of their day just to get water. This “solution” wasn’t sustainable but they didn’t know what to do.

A Solution to the Problem of No Clean Water

Rahul heard about the problems this village of 300 people was facing and arranged for them to apply for a water well to Transformation India Movement (TIM), Jesus’ Economy’s partner organization in Bihar, India. Shortly after applying, TIM granted their application and started the process of a water well.

They inaugurated the well in March with 50 people gathering to watch. During the inauguration, Rahul presented the gospel and explained the similarities between the clean water and Jesus, the Living Water.

Because of this, many people in the village heard the gospel for the first time and were eager to learn more about Jesus. This is exciting because the village is a new area that doesn’t have a church planter working with them yet. Now, Rahul can visit, tell them about the love of Jesus, and help provide a better life.

On March 5, 2018, a small village in Northern India celebrated the inauguration of a public water well. Jesus’ Economy church planter Veer heard of the village’s need and helped them bring clean water to their area.

Severe Problems Due to Lack of Essential Physical Needs

Of the 300 villagers, most of them are very poor and unable to drill a well on their own property. This leaves them with either using and drinking unclean water or walking miles a day just to get to clean water.

While this is a problem many villages face, for this particular village it was even more severe because most of the villagers work in agriculture; working the land for other people. Working in fields all day so they can earn a basic living doesn’t allow them the time they need to walk to get clean water. This means that children are the ones who are typically sent to retrieve the water.

The village tried to get the local government to bore a water well for them but they were unsuccessful.

Essential Physical and Spiritual Needs Met

Veer found out about their lack of clean water and guided the villagers in an application to Transformation India Movement (TIM), Jesus’ Economy’s partner organization in Bihar, India, for a public water well. TIM saw their need and granted their water well application for a 180 foot deep water well.

Sixty people attended the inauguration of the well including a local member of government. The people of the village recognized the work of Veer and TIM and now see what the Lord can do to meet not only their essential physical needs but their essential spiritual needs. This has opened many new doors for Veer to spread the gospel to this village and explain to them how Jesus is the Living Water.

Sponsoring a church planter so this kind of work can continue is vital.

Bore Well March 2018

In one of the Northern India villages where Santhosh, one of our four church planters, works, the need for clean water became so great that Santhosh took action to help the villagers bore a water well.

Limited Access to Drinking Water

In this village, there are no public water wells for the 300 people living there. The only wells in the village belong to the few wealthy people who won’t let any lower caste people come and get water. The poorer members of the village were essentially living at the mercy of the privileged for clean water. Their only other option was to walk miles a day to the nearest public water well, which can take hours.

The villagers turned to the government for help, requesting a public well be dug in the village but the government denied their request. This is where Santhosh came in, he told the villagers how to apply for a well through Transformation India Movement, Jesus’ Economy’s partner organization in Bihar, India.

Full Access to the Living Water

After applying for their well, the village’s need was met and a 110 foot deep water well was dug. They inaugurated the well in March 2018 with a presentation of the gospel, explaining how Jesus is the Living Water. Fifty villagers attended the inauguration and heard the message.

Because of the well and Santhosh, this village has access to clean water and is praising God for it. Many villagers are eager to know more about Jesus after receiving the tangible gifts from his followers. This is a great new opportunity for our sponsored church planter, Santhosh, to share the gospel with everyone there.

In follow up, Santosh will visit this village regularly, as part of his village church ministry. He will hold church services, distribute Bibles, and help to meet some of the needs of the villagers while he is there.

Jesus’ Economy’s church planters visit dozens of villages every year on a salary of only $7,500 USD per year. They travel by bicycle and public transportation, often relying on the kindness of strangers to have their needs met. If you are passionate about supporting the work of church planting, you can donate to our church planters.

 Support Santhosh's Ministry

Jesus' Economy church planter Santhosh has grown his ministry in Bihar, India by leaps and bounds. People are hearing about the love of Jesus for the first time and hope is being renewed.

Spiritual Renewal

During 2017, Santhosh has continued to bring the good news of Jesus to more villagers. 20 new people have chosen to believe in Jesus and 11 people have been baptized. He has also seen growth in the home churches he leads, as 18 new people have started regularly attending Sunday morning services.

He recently held a spiritual renewal seminar that brought together 250 people from 16 different villages. It was the first time something like that had ever happened in that part of India and it resulted in much excitement about the name of Jesus.

The Numbers Speak for Themselves

Santhosh launched a literacy training center in one of the villages that he ministers to and it has been a great addition to the village. 40 children from that village are studying in the literacy training center, learning to read for the first time. Without Santhosh's work, these children would likely never have the opportunity to learn to read. Several adults have also joined.

Through his ministry, Santhosh has seen a total of 297 people trust in Jesus. Among those 297, 153 people have been baptized. The believers are spread across 13 house churches and eight home Bible study groups. People are regularly coming to Christ.

Santhosh's impact in Northern India continues to be deep, profound, and exciting. Join in this excitement by donating to the church planting fund so he and the other church planters can continue spreading the name of Jesus.

Baptisms abound in Bihar, India, as church planter Veer continues to spread the gospel throughout a dozen villages.

Name of Jesus Multiplied Greatly

This has been the first full year of church planting for Veer and he has spent the year working diligently to bring the name of Jesus to many villagers. In the first six months of the year, more than 1,300 people heard the gospel for the first time. And in total, more than 4,000 people have heard the name of Jesus through Veer's ministry!

The Living Water Inspires Others

During the first six months of the year, 11 people were baptized and eight people said they wanted to be baptized and are in the process of preparing for baptism. Veer has continued to use the analogy of the water well that Jesus' Economy provided. He tells people that as the water well has given villagers access to clean water, Jesus is the Living Water (John 4:13–14). Through this simple analogy, many people have heard about the love of Jesus and wanted to know more. People are seeing how the love of Jesus is tangible, but also eternal.

Veer has successfully launched five house churches and six Bible study groups. Across the home churches, he has seen a regular attendance of 98 people. Of those 98 church attendees, 31 people total have been baptized over the past year, demonstrating their full commitment to Jesus!

Because of Veer's dedication to his ministry, many people are hearing about the love of Jesus for the first time in their lives. The gospel is reaching the unreached.

Veer is looking forward to another year of church planting and spreading the gospel. Please join us in helping him reach more people for Jesus by praying for and supporting him

Church planter Rahul's dedication to 11 different villages in Northern India has resulted in many people trusting in God and attending church on Sundays. Through prayer, lives are being changed. The gospel is reaching people who had previously never heard the name of Jesus.

Reaping What He has Sown

Rahul has been a church planter sponsored by Jesus' Economy since October 2015; and because of his hard work, more than 4,500 people have heard the gospel for the first time. Of the people who have listened to Rahul, 119 have chosen to believe in Jesus.

With these high numbers, especially of villagers choosing to trust in Jesus, Rahul has established a main church in one of the villages. Every Sunday, people flock to the church, which is actually not a building but rather a meeting place under a large tree. More than 70 people attend this service on a regular basis!

The Work of Prayer

This is a huge answer to prayer as this is the same village and church that was experiencing heavy flooding and rains during monsoon season. Because of this extreme weather, Rahul had experienced troubles getting people to come back to church and being regular attendees. Now, people are excited to gather together and listen to Rahul.

In addition, Rahul has established five other house churches and is conducting five Bible study groups. And through his ministry, 24 people have been baptized!

Rahul continues to see more and more people want to change their life and trust in Jesus. All of this work is based in prayer and driven by prayer.

Jesus' Economy sponsored church planter Advik is bringing the gospel to unreached people groups in Bihar, India. He was first sponsored in September 2016 and since that time his ministry has grown rapidly.

Gaining Trust in the Village

When Advik first arrived in the village he is serving in, he found that the people desperately needed clean water. Thus Jesus' Economy sponsored a water well. This well has given people access to clean, safe drinking water. The well helps show people in the village Jesus' love. Because Advik advocated for clean water for the village, people are more than willing to listen to and trust him.

Advik has been successful in starting five Bible study groups and one house church. There are 18 villagers regularly attending the house church. People who had previously never heard of Jesus are hearing Advik tell the biblical story every week.

Expanding the Reach of the Gospel

Due to Advik's ministry, over 40 people have trusted in Jesus. In addition, three people have taken the beautiful step of being publicly baptized and three others have expressed the desire to be baptized.

It is Advik's hope that as time goes on, he will reach more and more villages thereby providing access to the gospel to thousands of people. With the amount of people living in each village (often 1,000 to 2,000 people per village) this goal is certainly possible.

Support Advik in his work to bring the word of God to those who have never heard it before.

Santhosh, one of our church planters in Bihar, India, recently held a spiritual awakening seminar for 250 people from 16 different villages in the region. The theme for the one day seminar was drawn from John 17:3, "Know Christ and Make Him Known."

Spiritual Renewal Seminar Brings Excitement about Jesus

Santhosh worked with five other leaders that he trained to organize the different parts of the event.

This is the first time any of these villages were able to not only attend but host a seminar like this; it has never been done before in this area of Northern India. So many people were excited about it that six people were baptized the day before so they could attend the seminar as newly baptized believers.

It wasn't just the attendees who were excited either, leaders and the regional coordinator were excited too. When something like this comes together and actually happens in an area where a year or so ago, the idea of it ever happening was a pipe dream, the excitment is palbable.

Decisions and Dedications Abound

The excitement came with good reason as dozens of people made commitments to follow Jesus and better their lives.

In addition to the six people being baptized, during the seminar, 10 people expressed a desire to be baptized and 22 people decided to believe in Jesus. Santhosh said that the seminar was a great motivator for villagers to know Jesus more closely and really made them excited to provide access to the gospel throughout the region. There is a renewed desire to expand the ministry even further than before.

The renewal seminar greatly affected young people as well: 12 of them decided to take part in the discipleship training offered and 10 young women enrolled in an empowering women tailoring program, to learn marketable business skills.

Strength to Provide Access to the Gospel and Healing

Because of this one day event, the local ministry has been greatly strengthened and hope is exceedingly abundant among villagers. Because of what one of the region's leaders shared from John 17 about knowing Jesus better, several people experienced God's presence and were inspired.

From the seminar, the believers who attended came away more rooted in their faith and better equipped to talk about Jesus. They also witnessed the healing power of Jesus.

Two women who attended the event had been living with severe pain from illnesses. They experienced healing during the seminar. More and more healing is being brought to the region as Santhosh continues to work at spreading the peace of knowing Jesus.

Support Santhosh in his efforts to strengthen the local leadership and community in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
