Just like the women who make these trivets, the fibers themselves are naturally beautiful and made from locally sourced cotton. Many years of effort has gone into perfecting the weaving process. What started as a plea from a group of Haitian mothers to provide for their families, has now become a thriving process and a way towards hope. Support their efforts. Kathy Brooks, Co-founder of 2nd Story Goods, a non-profit dedicated to creating beautiful change in Haiti, was sitting in her driveway one day when a group of Haitian mothers came up. They gently cornered her and asked her to buy their hand-made rugs. Seeing the desperation in their eyes to provide for their families, Kathy decided to invest in their work. These braided rugs are the result of a partnership of love and respect between women of two cultures with the same goal: to provide a better future for themselves and their children.
