David Miles previously served as Community Development Consultant for Jesus' Economy, from October 2013 to June 2013. This bio was last updated in April 2014.
David is Director of Outreach and Connection at Maple Valley Presbyterian Church and has served in pastoral ministry for the last nine years. In conjunction with his work in the church, he has served as an adjunct faculty member at Northwest University: He teaches classes on curriculum development, volunteer training, recruiting, and branding to pastoral ministry students. Additionally, he works as a social media consultant and has run two consulting businesses partnering with faith-based organizations, like Outreach Websites (formally Church Web Works) and the Northwest Ministry Network. He also volunteered his services to World Vision in the wake of the earthquake in Haiti.
Prior to entering into pastoral ministry fulltime, David completed a double major B.A. in communication and sociology from Western Washington University with the intention of pursuing a career in marketing. But just before his final term at Western Washington University, David participated in hurricane Katrina relief work in Louisiana. As a result of his work in Louisiana, he felt called to pursue fulltime pastoral ministry, and began that work at New Life Church in Renton, Washington.
After several years working in churches, David completed an M.A. in Ministerial Leadership from Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University. His thesis explored the affect of Facebook on intra-congregational connection and community.
David has been married to his wife Monika for eight years and they have two children, a daughter named Ella and a son named Emerson. The Miles family currently lives outside of Seattle, WA.
