Writing and Editorial Internship: Tell Stories of Hope

Jesus' Economy is looking for interns in writing and editorial who are willing to donate their time to creating content for the Jesus' Economy Fair Trade Shop. Together, we will tell the stories of fair trade artisans overcoming extreme poverty. We will create fair trade jobs in the developing world through inspiring content. This volunteer position is ideal for people seeking a career in communications and/or editorial.

Ideal candidate:

  • Is developing skills in writing or editing
  • Is willing to have their writing edited and critiqued
  • Desires to learn basic HTML
  • Is interested in fair trade and its value to the global economy
  • Wants to explore and understand the issues surrounding extreme poverty
  • Is passionate about the principles behind Jesus' Economy
  • Believes that inspirational writing is critical to solving global poverty
  • Believes that content can transform lives
  • Interested in writing regularly about a cause that matters
  • Desires to use storytelling to help artisans from extreme poverty situations

Nice to have:

  • Experience writing about products or working in retail
  • Some writing experience for an edited publication or blog
  • Content management system experience, such as using WordPress
  • Basic HTML knowledge

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating product copy and artisan bios for the Jesus' Economy Fair Trade Shop
  • Encoding product pages using basic HTML, which is a highly marketable skill once learned

Volunteer remotely as an intern. This is a remote position; our entire team works remotely. You can make the world a better place from behind your computer. Our internship program involves being mentored while gaining experience that can be listed on your resume; you will expand your skill set while helping alleviate poverty and spread the gospel. The average intern gives four to eight hours per week to Jesus' Economy or works part- to full-time over a summer break.

About our editorial team. Our CEO is the Editor of Faithlife Study Bible and Lexham Bible Dictionary, and the author or editor of over 30 books. He formerly served as the founding Publisher of Lexham Press and as the editor-in-chief of the 100,000-circulation Bible Study Magazine, a publication he launched. Our team also includes a Syracuse University graduate in Newspaper and Online Journalism. You will be joining leaders in their field who edit for Jesus' Economy because they want to make the world a better place. Jesus' Economy is an all-volunteer team, including our executives.

About our organization. Jesus' Economy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity dedicated to creating jobs and churches in the developing world. We empower developing world leaders to renew their communities, both spiritually and physically. In each community, we offer church grants, microloans, and meet basic needs. 100% goes to the developing world. To fuel the movement and job creation, we also provide an online Fair Trade Shop.
