Artisan's Story

Chrismene—the artisan behind this jewelry—her husband, and their sons lost their home to the 2010 earthquake that devastated much of southern Haiti and killed upwards of 100,000 people. She makes this jewelry for the joy it brings, but also to raise money for a new home and a quality education for her son.

Haiti is a country with a desperate economic situation. Considered one of the poorest countries in the world, there are few sustainable ways to make an income or even provide the basest of needs. Any effort to create jobs in this hurting country goes a long way.
